This first solid prototype was really exciting to see. It’s exceptionally solid. This table will be around for the next hundred years at least. Making some needed improvements in the next prototype. These will hopefully be available in a handful of standard colors, along with custom colors. Also in the works is a version of this table made from a combination of local hardwoods: hickory, walnut, and oak.

LKD 2008 Christmas Gift
I wanted to design a simple, functional, flat-packed, cardboard gift to send out to friends of LKD. After designing/building a few prototypes of bookends and other ideas, I decided to go this route…it’s a book holder… you may have been lucky enough to receive one of these to assemble on Christmas morning… I sent out 16, I think.

Olive’s Cat Condo
When I get a chance to build something, like a house for my new cat, I take advantage of it. I mean, why waste your time building something that already exists? It really didn’t take that long. I sketched it on an envelope and built it in the equivalent of an afternoon’s worth of time.
I made this house for my cat, Olive. She enters through a door in the bottom side and then ascends a ramp, which boosts her to the upper level. The front wall is plexi-glass, the floor is 2.5 inch thick old sheepskin rug, and my wife made some small paintings that hang on the walls. There is also a big cardboard scratching porch. Cats love to scratch and relax on cardboard. The top is removable and the glass slides out for maintenance.
Yes, that’s a deceased mouse on her porch.
